BioTech 2014, June 11-14, 2014, Prague, Czech Republic
BioTech 2014 will concentrate on microbial biotechnology, the key technology for bio-based economies. Microorganisms such as bacteria, yeast, and microalgae, and their enzymes, are used for manufacturing a wide range of products in sustainable, forward-looking bioprocesses. These products represent high-performance chemicals or ingredients in demand for foodstuffs, animal feed, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Lectures will therefore focus on:
- Bio-products for Health, Nutrition and Chemistry
- Bio-refineries for Food, Materials and Energy
Selection criteria for oral and poster presentations will be based on novelty, potential for practical application and scientific merit.
All abstracts will be published in a Book of Abstracts (with own ISBN). Additionally, selected conference presentations will appear in a pre-booked special issue of the journal of Biotechnology Advances (Elsevier, ISSN 0734-9750, 5-year Impact Factor: 10.959). Further space for publishing is offered in a special issue of Bioprospect, the peer-reviewed journal of the Czech Biotechnology Society (ISSN 1210-1737).
Specialised workshops (SIG) and round-table discussions can be organised upon request to further strengthen relationship between industry and academia. As long criteria of scientific and formal quality are met, contributions to the poster session are open to any biotechnology research topic beyond the main scope of the lectures.
As a platform for personal, scientific, technical and commercial contacts, this highly interactive event will foster new collaborations and provide opportunities for the fruitful continuation of long-term relationships between Czech- and Swiss-based biotechnologists. The official conference language will be English. BioTech 2014 is also open to both participants with complementary scientific interests and from other countries, who are invited to join and actively contribute.
The conference will take place in the National Technical Library, located centrally in the university campus in Prague 6. The famous city of Prague lies in the heart of Europe and, due to its abundance of cultural attractions and rich historic architecture, is one of the most popular European tourist destinations.
